I've been looking for a mill and was wondering how the VMC compares with the Sieg Super X3. Clearly the Sieg is a much smaller mill and the Warco is only £200 more... After I got the Super X3 mill, the need for the DROs rose to the top of my priorities. Sieg Super X3 mill with DRO mounted. The tilting head of my Sieg Super X3 mill won't tilt. The recessed releasing screw on the side of the machine just rotates but releases nothing. The manual that came with the mill tells me nothing and the there is no diagram to show how the releasing mechanism works.
What happened next (aside from the January 2007 release of the Sieg Super X3), was that one member of the SIEG-SX3-C6B group posted a message which reads as follows (thanks Tex!): I posted this on cnczone but decided it was valuable info so am posting it here too since Harbor Freight's ERROR filled docs and advertising is Confusing.

There's been an interesting evolution of the Z-axis feed from the X2 mini mill through the X3 and SX3 to the X4. On the X2 mini-mill, the head is raised and lowered using the 3-spoke handwheel which drives a rack and pinion.
